Arrive any time after noon on Monday. Burton Lodge will be our gathering space. Catch up with friends as they arrive. If you get there before it all begins, have a look around the premises, take a walk on the beach, find a place to play music.
Check in, along with your room assignments, will be ready around 2:00pm in Burton Lodge.
The first scheduled activity is dinner at 5:30pm.

Exploring The Rhythm Within Each of us has a sense of rhythm whether it’s based in time or more natural pulses of the world around us. In this class we will explore different rhythmic influences and how they can add to the music we make. We will play with ideas and exercises of timed rhythms, speeding up and slowing down tempos, when to add silence, feeling rhythms in the body, building a rich rhythmic palette that you can choose from, how to put rhythms together to build the bones of your song and more. Bring your G-minor flutes and your didgeridoos!
- Session with Tim (Burton lodge downstairs)
Flute Workout Flute Exercises, Patterns, and a whole lot of Flute Playing. A fun and very interactive workshop. Timothy will provide all participants with various exercises and techniques to assist and encourage them to evolve and further develop their flute-playing and songwriting methods.

Playing ensemble music with Native Flute, Flute Choir Back by popular demand… We’ll look at playing ensemble music for NAF and how to improve our skills of playing from written music. Play some songs written for “flute choir”. Previous experience with reading of various forms of written music (finger diagrams, numbers, Nakai/NAF TAB, notes) will be helpful. Bring your A-minor and D-minor (the low D-minor ones, not the little high D-minors) flutes. Also bring a pencil, patience and reading glasses.
- Session with Joe (Burton Lodge downstairs)
Performance skills on flute Move beyond plateaus, develop new skills, get the most out of your practice. Bring your G-minor flutes.

Jamming Together This is an interactive class where we will let the music do the talking. Bring flutes, didgeridoos, drums, shakers, rattles or what have you and we will break into smaller groups and look at what roles (i.e. lead roles, support roles etc.) these instruments can play in making awesome music together. We’ll also look at how to get started when you don’t know where to start, how to build a song together from beginning to end, switching roles, taking solos and more.

The Beauty of the Native Flute Sound Bring out the unique, rich sound of the Native flute through the power of breath. Develop beautiful and rich tone quality on Native flute. Bring your G-minor flutes.

Play Along Have fun playing with percussion, backing tracks and other instruments. We’ll also play along with some intuitive musical creation apps available for iPad and other devices. Bring your G-minor and A-minor flutes and jam with a funky grove or get lost in an atmospheric soundscape.
- Session with Tim (Burton Lodge main floor)
Finding the Silence Between the Notes In this class, you will learn how to play two songs from Timothy’s album The Silence Between, including the importance of the space between the notes. Bring your G-minor and F#-minor flutes.
